Recipient of the Caroline Johnson Award
Tenor Jubal Joslyn’s recently won an Encouragement Award at the Houston District Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and earned a position at the Aspen Opera Theater Center as part of the Aspen Music Festival. Past accomplishments include winning the Idaho/ Montana/ Eastern Washington District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, including the “Audience Choice” award, and performing as a Northwestern Regional Finalist. He made his debut as Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor with Opera Artists of Utah, Remendado in Carmen at Opera Idaho and returned to Santa Fe Opera to cover Vladimir Vladimirescu in The Impresario and The Fisherman in Le Rossignol. As a member of the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Artist’s Program, he also sang the title role in a scene from Walton’s Troilus and Cressida.
He has previously performed scenes as Alfredo in La traviata, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Tom Rakewell in The Rake’s Progress, Rodolfo in La Bohème and the complete roles of Benedict in Béatrice et Bénédict and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte
Winner of 2013’s BYU Nancy Peery-Marriot Singer of the Year Competition, Jubal has received other awards from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, including the “Best of Utah” award, and sponsorship by the William Randolph Hearst Fund from the Santa Fe Opera. Mr. Joslyn grew up in Imperial, NE and lives with his family in Austin, TX.
