Debra Dickinson was a professional actress in New York for 17 years prior to beginning her career as stage director. Her numerous credits include performing the role of Guenevere in Camelot opposite Richard Burton and Richard Harris, and appearing in the Vienna production of Cats.
Ms. Dickinson’s directing career encompasses a wide range of projects, from being the stage director and acting teacher at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University to a guest director/choreographer/acting instructor at various opera companies, including Glimmerglass Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Brevard Music Center, Berkshire Opera, and Connecticut Opera.
She has taught for the Houston Grand Opera studio program and for the Houston Ebony Opera apprentice program. She began her directing career as the Associate Stage Director at the New York City Opera, under the auspices of Beverly Sills.
