Baritone
Recipient of the 2007 Third Place Award
Yoon-Sang, baritone and Native Korean, graduated from Seoul National University School, of Music where he performed Alfio in CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA.
He won the CBS National Music Competition, Suree Musical Competition, Korean Voice Competition and the Sejong Music Competition.
Last year, he was a finalist in both the Inaugural Lois Alba Aria Competition and the Charles A. Lynam Vocal Competition.
Yoon-Sang recently received his Master’s degree in performance from the University of Texas in Austin. He has performed roles such as Simeon in L’ENFANT PRODIGUE by Debussy, Feathertop in Joseph Turrin’s world premier of SCARECROW, Maunel in LA VIDA BREVE by De Falla, Dennis Kim in the world premier of HOLY NIGHT by Dan Welcher and Escamillo in LA TRAGEDIE DE CARMEN by Peter Brook with Butler Opera Center.
He was honored to be nominated “Male from Austin” in 2004-2005 in SINGER’s Critic’s Table.
In April, Yoon-Sang performed the role of Henry IV in Gordon Getty’s PLUMP JACK with the Butler Opera Center.
His upcoming performances will include Morales in Bizet’s CARMEN and Quinault in Cilea’s ADRIANA LECOUVRER with Opera in the Heights in Houston, Texas. He has been the recipient of the Presidential Endowment Scholarship since 2004 at the University of Texas in Austin and is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Opera Performance there.
