Banlingyu (Ban Ban) is a candidate of Doctor of Musical Arts at Arizona State University. Graduated with Professional Studies Diploma at Mannes School of Music in 2016. Ban Ban was born in China and obtained her B.M. and M.M. Degree in Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Ms. Ban has been chosen to study to cover Tosca with Arizona Opera 2017-2018 season. In 2017, she sang the title role Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly with Heartbeat Opera. NY Times wrote, “The soprano Banlingyu Ban conveys the inner resilience of this tragic heroine through the bright tones and strong delivery of the vocal lines.” With The Mannes Opera, she performed Giannetta in L’elisir D’amore in 2015, and Dolcina in Suor Angelica in 2014. Commended by the Opera News “tall, graceful Ban projected her music as enjoyable audibly,” and “Ban gave a detailed, affecting dramatic performance, her voice showed a nice pearly quality.” In 2015, Ms. Ban also sang Monica in The Medium and Genovieffa in Suor Angelica with the Chicago Summer Opera. During 2013, in Shanghai, she sang Nella and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi with Burletta Opera Festival. Ms. Ban is one of the winners of 2018 Concerto Competition with ASU School of Music. She also won the Platinum Award in Forte International Music Competition 2017, gala concert at Carnegie Hall. The Forth Place in New York Lyric Opera Competition. She also received Tuscia International Opera Festival Competition’s 3rd Place and Best Puccini Performance Award 2012 in Italy, as well as the Excellence Award from Asia International Vocal Festival in Hong Kong.
