Soprano Dee Donasco is a candidate for her Masters of Music in Vocal Perfomance studing voice with Dale Dietert at Southers Methodist University. She was born in the Philippines. At age 10 she won the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) of the Philippines. She moved to the U.S. at age 13.
She received her undergraduate degree from Texas A & M University ~ Corpus Christi, earning a double bachelor’s degree in Biology and Music Performance (Cum Laude). She made her debut at the San Antonio Opera last summer as Inez in Verdi’s IL TROVATORE. Her roles at The Meadows Opera Theater include Aminta in Mozart’s IL RE PASTORE and Laurie in Aaron Copland’s THE TENDER LAND.
Ms. Donasco’s awards and honors include second prize in the 2009 Mid-Texas Symphony Young Artist Competition in Voice, winner of the 2009 Annual Concerto Competition of the Meadows School of Arts (SMU), first prize from the 2007 San Antonio Opera Vocal Competition, second prize from the 2007 Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition and first prize in the 2006 Tuesday Musical Club Vocal Competition (San Antonio). Dee was a member of the SMU Emerging Artists Program for two seasons.
