Dalma Boronkai, Hungarian-American soprano has performed lead roles in Purcell’s DIDO and AENEAS, Mozart’s Le NOZZE di FIGARO and Poulenc’s DIALOGUE of the CARMELITES. She has won numerous vocal awards and competitions including 1st Place at the Tuesday Music Club Competition, 1st Place at the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera Competition, for which she sang at Carnegie Hall. Dalma was also a finalist for the San Francisco Merola Opera Program, Seattle Opera, Santa Fe Opera, The Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition, the Palm Beach Opera Competition and the New York International Opera Program.
Dalma’s sacred music performances include Mozart’s Exultate, Jubilate with the Houston Chamber Orchestra at Zilkha Hall and Bach’s Jauchzet Gott in allan Landen with the Houston Bach Society.
She is an honors graduate of Houston Baptist University where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and also holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University.
This past summer, Dalma traveled to Italy to study with Benita Valente at the Florence Voice Seminar and then Rome to sing Gilda in Verdi’s RIGOLETTO at the New Operafestival di Roma.
September of 2006 Dalma performed Gilda in Verdi’s RIGOLETTO with Opera in the Heights, Houston, Texas. After winning first place in the Lois Alba Aria Competition, she was engaged to sing Adina in Donizetti’s L’ELISIR D’AMORE at Opera in the Heights and will also appear there as Susanna in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO during the 2007-2008 season.
