A native of Taiwan, Dr. Yi-Chiu Rachel Chao has performed in solo and collaborative recitals in Taiwan, Canada and the United States. Rachel currently serves as a staff pianist for the voice and opera program at Rice University, and is the rehearsal pianist for Houston Masterworks Chorus. She has been a pianist/accompanist for Houston Grand Opera’s Young Artists Vocal Academy, HGO High School Voice Studio, and other events with HGOco. She also performed Stravinsky’s Les Noces with the Houston Ballet last June. She received Doctor of Music in piano performance under the guidance of Alan Chow at Northwestern University.
