Soprano
Recipient of the Robin Angly & Miles O. Smith Award
Sylvia D’Eramo, soprano, is a graduate student at the Yale School of Music. Before attending Yale, she received a Bachelor of Music from SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music. She has previously appeared as Fiordiligi in Yale Opera’s production of Cosi fan Tutte. During her time at Purchase she performed the roles of Abigail Williams in The Crucible, Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, Mutter in Hänsel und Gretel, Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the Dew Fairy in Hänsel und Gretel. Sylvia recently sang the role of Abigail Williams on Albany Record’s new recording of Robert Ward’s The Crucible. In Opera News magazine’s June 2017 Critic’s Choice Review of Albany Record’s The Crucible, Ms. D’Eramo was highlighted. “As Abigail Williams…the very promising soprano, Sylvia D’Eramo sings with an acute instinct for both the passion and the treachery at the character’s core.” In May of 2017, Sylvia won an encouragement award from the Career Bridges Competition in New York City. She will continue her studies for her Master’s Degree at the Yale School of Music. Sylvia studies with Doris Yarick-Cross.
