Soprano, Elizabeth Baldwin earned her Masters degree in Vocal/Opera Performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana, where she studied with Metropolitan Opera stars Carol Vaness and distinguished Professor of Music, Timothy R. Noble.
Ms. Baldwin has participated in various Masterclasses with Marilyn Horne, Carol Vaness, Virginia Zeani, Dawn Upshaw, Stephanie Blythe, James Levine and Martin Katz as well as many other music professionals. She has sung and covered roles which include: Donna Anna in DON GIOVANNI, the title role in VANESSA, Micaela in CARMEN, Mrs. Webb in OUR TOWN, the title role of ARABELLA, Zita in GIANNI SCHICCHI, Ley Sister in SUOR ANGELICA just to name a few.
Ms. Baldwin also has enjoyed numerous concert engagements. She was a Guest Soloist in Menahem Pressler’s concert series “Pressler and Friends” performing Schubert’s Der Hirt auf dem Felsen with Maestro Menahem Pressler on piano. She has also performed soprano roles in Faure’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and his Drei Psalmen (Op. 78, No. 1) Eleanor Daley’s Requiem, Haydn’s Missa Sancti Hieronymi, John Rutter’s Requiem, Saint-Saens Christmas Oratorio and Vivaldi’s Gloria.
Elizabeth has participated and been awarded many numerous prizes in many prestigious competitions including: the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Illinois and Ohio Districts, Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation Vocal Competition, the National Orpheus Vocal Competition, Heida Hermanns International Voice Competition, Eleanor Lieber Awards Competition, Palm Beach Opera Vocal Competition. She was also a finalist for the San Francisco Merola Opera Program, LA Opera Domingo-Thornton Young Artist Program, Minnesota Opera Young Artist Program, Houston Grand Opera Studio Program as well as Santa Fe Opera.
For the 2011 summer season, Elizabeth will be making her debut with the Arbor Opera Theater performing the role of Micaela in Bizet’s CARMEN, covering the role of Magda Sorel in Menotti’s THE CONSUL with the New Jersey Opera and will be a Vocal Fellow at the Ravinia Steans Music Institute.
